Adobe to Discontinue the Creative Suite

Adobe announced today that There will be no Creative Suite 7. The Next Web reports that after an almost 10 year run with creative suite, Adobe will abandon it’s fleet of design oriented software to focus exclusively on its Creative Cloud service.

“Everything moving forward is focusing on creative cloud” —Adobe

This is going to be a big change Adobe’s business model. Instead of paying for a serial and software outright, we will have to pay a monthly subscription fee to use the Creative Cloud apps.

The pricing model is as follows:

  • Students
    • 19.99/mo
  • Those with a serial number for CS3 and later
    • 29.99/mo
  • Single user without serial
    • 49.99/mo
  • Teams
    • 69.99/mo /member without CS3 or later serial
    • 39.99/mo/member with a CS3 or later serial

This could be interesting, as the subscription model rolls out this June. Members will find that their subscription will offer access to all adobe products including TypeKit and Behance Pro Sites.
